Making technical debt visible and actionable
Challenge: CodeScene helps organizations manage technical debt. But as the platform grew, customers — especially engineering managers and developers — struggled with UX: unclear navigation, inconsistent patterns, and difficulty acting on insights in their daily workflows. At the same time, the company needed a modern website to explain its value to both technical and business audiences.
Solution: I was responsible for UX and design across product and marketing, working alongside other UX consultants. We evolved the existing design system, mapped user journeys, and set a vision for making CodeScene’s insights more actionable in IDEs, PRs, and developer workflows. I also led a full website redesign, shipping it myself and using AI to cut costs and speed delivery. Research through analytics, interviews, and workshops guided improvements.
Outcome: The new website gave CodeScene a clearer identity and stronger market presence. On the platform side, we created a roadmap for better developer and engineering manager experience, with foundations in place for more consistent, scalable design.
What I Learned: I learned how UX can directly support developers and engineering managers in their daily work, and how evolving systems and workflows empowers teams to act on technical debt. Building designs myself with AI also showed me how to deliver faster and more cost-effectively.
