JLOFSTEDT is the personal showcase of Joachim Löfstedt, a 23 year old web and graphics designer from the southern parts of Sweden.

Some of the projects I have been involved in have been featured in a variety of design oriented publications and portals such as Smashing Magazine, 365psd and Web Creme, as well as more technology focused networks like Mashable.com and TechCrunch.com.

Background

Ever since I can remember I always wanted to make things look pretty. In my younger years I was very fascinated by drawings and paintings which later led me into illustrations and art in general. During the same period of time the I brought my interest futher with the use of computers, which opened up endless opportunities for me to learn more about design and graphics. I came early into contact with softwares from Adobe which I instantly fell in love with. The more I sat down and tried different things out, the more I learned. Eventually I saw the opportunities within the design industry and started off as a freelance designer. I also founded my first company at the same time.

Furthermore, I have recently graduated from a three-year course in Media Technology at Linnaeus University which involved classes from web programming to classical art.

Process
1. Information Gathering

The first step in any project is to find out what the client wants. This is done through careful planning and information gathering to ensure every aspect is well thought-out.

2. Idea Generation

The next step involves coming up with great ideas on how the final product should look. Wireframes and sketches enables me to create a found- ation which will be refined in the later design stage.

3. Designing

When there is a clear picture of what the client wants the design work begins, where the import- ance lies in the outcome. The final product has to convey a correct message while evoking a desired emotional response.

4. Managing

Just because the final product has been delivered, it does not mean I am out of the picture. I will be available for questions, problems or other concerns that the client might encounter.
